Brief Description
Passenger list, Rimutaka
Tri-fold printed list of passengers for the New Zealand Shipping Company, New Zealand line. The front has an image of a Māori warrior under a nikau palm next to a river and mountain scene. There is a bubble with an image of a ship on the ocean in the centre of the page. Above everything is the shipping company's flag, more mountains and the name. Inside on the left is information about the company, its various branches and its boats. The middle and right sections are a list of the passengers in First Saloon, Second Saloon and Third Cabin. Also gives brief information on the ship, the sailing date and the captain and surgeon. The back left flap is a blank log chart with areas for date, distance run, latitude, longitude and wind. In the centre panel of the back there is a map of the world. It reads: To leave London 5 February, and Plymouth 7 February 1891. This ship was one of five of the New Zealand Shipping Company's royal mail steamers.
