About this object
The pool at Heretaunga Swimming club in use for the first time after being fitted with a $3000 heating unit, which will maintain the water at a comfortable 78 degrees throughout the Winter months. On the starting blocks (from left) are Rosemary Gosling, Judy Tompsett, Doreen Volman, Raewyn King and Judy Arnold.
With an air temperature of only 56 degrees, non-competitors found it more comfortable to stay in the water while races were in progress at the Heretaunga Swimming Club's heated pool in Karamu road south, Hastings, on Saturday 23 August 1969.
