Three declaration of lease forms are attached together as one.

(a) Reupena Rongomai of Wairoa is named on a lease declaration to be made by Māori alienating their land dated 29 December 1881 and made between Hamana Tiakiwai and others on the first part and Josiah Pratt Hamlin, Sheepfarmer, Wairoa on the other. The block of land known as Ohuia No 2 Wairoa district. A copy of this lease is written in Māori.

(b) Hunia Paretangohia of Wairoa is named on a lease dated 29 December 1881 made between Hamana Tiakiwai and others of the first part and Josiah Pratt Hamlin, sheepfarmer, Wairoa on the secon. The block of land is known as Ohuia No 2, Wairoa district. A copy of this lease is also written in Māori.

(c) Areta Apatu and others of Wairoa are named on a lease deed dated 29 December 1881 on the first part and Josiah Pratt Hamlin, sheepfarmer, Wairoa on the other. The block of land known as Ohuia No 2, Wairoa district. A copy of this lease is written in Māori.

The leases are counter signed by Thomas Powdrell, Wairoa on 9 August 1883.

Two New Zealand Stamp Duty stamps valued at 2/6d shilling are on the three leases which are written in English.Three leases, Ohuia number 2 land block;

In the matter of “The Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act, 1881;”
and in the matter of the application of Josiah Pratt Hamlin of Wairoa,
in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New
Zealand, Sheep Farmer, for a certificate from the Trust
Commissioner in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay.
I, Reupena Rongomai of Wairoa, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, in the colony of New Zealand, an aboriginal native, do solemnly
and sincerely declare,-

1.That I am the Reupena Rongomai named in a certain deed of
Lease, dated the 29 day of December, 1881, made between
Hamana Tiakiwai and others of the one part and the said
Josiah Pratt Hamlin of the other part of that block of land
known as Ohuia No 2 Wairoa District, produced and shown to
me at the time of me making this declaration.
2.That no spirituous liquors, arms, or warlike stores formed the
consideration, or part of the consideration, for the said deed,
or are to be received by me.
3.That the sum of (not filled in) , the consideration of the said deed, has been duly paid by the (not filled in) . (This sentence has not been filled in but has six (6) lines crossed through it).
4.That the land dealt with in the said deed of Lease is not held in
trust for the benefit of any Native community.
5.That there is sufficient land left belonging to me for my future wants outside the boundaries specified in the said deed,
namely, an undivided interest in the Whakapunaki block.
6.That I perfectly understand the nature of the said deed, and
that I have no complaint to make regarding this transaction.
7.That [Here state the nature of title, whether Crown Grant or
Order of Native Land Court] the said land is held under a
memorial ownership form the Native Lands Court.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace
Act, 1882”.

I, Areta Apatū of Wairoa, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, in the
Colony of New Zealand, an aboriginal native, do solemnly and sincerely
declare, -

1.That I am the Areta Apatū named in a certain deed of Lease, dated
the 29 day of December, 1881, made between myself and others of
the one part and the above Josiah Pratt Hamlin of the other part of
the Block of Land known as Ohuia No2, produced and shown to me
at the time of me making this declaration.
2.That no spirituous liquors, arms, or warlike stores formed the
consideration, or part of the consideration, for the said deed,
or are to be received by me.
3.That the sum of , the consideration of the said deed has been
duly paid by the . (This sentence has not been filled in but has
two horizontal lines through it).
4.That the land dealt with in the said deed of Lease is not held in trust
for the benefit of any Native community.
5.That there is sufficient land left belonging to me for my future wants
outside the boundaries specified in the said deed, namely, an interest
in 800 acres at Taumata o te ??? and 80 acres at Te Pōtaka and other lands.
6.That I perfectly understand the nature of the said deed, and that I
have no complaint to make regarding this transaction.

Land Court].
The said block of land is vested in us under a certificate of title by the Native Land Court of New Zealand.
