Brief Description
Lease dated 12 July 1873 between Francis Edward Hamlin of Maketu in the Province of Auckland Resident Magistrate, the Lessor and John Armstrong Turner of Meeanee, Hawke's Bay, the Lessee.

The lease covers sections 34, 35 and 43 of West Clive or Hikutoto containing 77 acres. The three sections are on the west side of the road leading from Napier to Havelock North and on the east bank of the Ngaruroro River. The lease also covers a piece of land known as the Hikutoto Block South which is 140 acres situated on the bank of the Tukituki River and contains a dwelling house and out buildings.

The declaration is by Henry Martin Hamlin, Licensed Native Interpreter, Napier acting as attorney for Francis Edwards Hamlin. Two maps of the area are included. The map showing the Ngaruroro River shows the location of an old Māori ditch.
