Brief Description
A lease made on 6 July 1878 between Hoeta Kaihue of Wairoa Hawke's Bay (Lessor) and Francis Edward Hamlin of Napier Hawke's Bay (Lessee).
The land to be leased is the Ruarakaiputara block at Wairoa - 298 acres. The Ruarakaiputara block is bounded by the te Kiwi, Kahuitara, Te Rewa, Hinewhaki East and West blocks. The Waikoko stream acts as a boundary. J P Hamlin acted as interpreter for Hoeta Kaihua and Frederick F Ormond acted as witness to his signature. On the back of the manuscript is a signed statement by Richard Beetham the Trust Commissioner under the Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act.
