Brief Description
A lease made on 19 February 1878 between Tareha Moananui, Waata Ngarangikawhenako, Horiana Hinemate, Te Paea, Mana Ngote Ngote, Paku , Wikitoria Hae Hae, Retimana Mio, Ratima Tiakitai, Rewi Futu, Te Raheke, Huka Watene te Kaharunga and Perahama te Wharepourutu of the Ahuriri District, Lessors and John Taylor of Moeangiangi, sheepfarmer, Lessee.
The block of land to be leased is the Tatara o te Rauhina of 5760 acres.
The boundaries are Awa o Tatara; Tutira; Arapawanui and Moeangiangi. There is a small map of the area alongside the lease. The lease is signed by Rewi Tutu.
There is a embossed stamp and stamp fixed to the lease with a metal attachment. Both stamps have Stamp duty New Zealand written on them. The top stamp is valued at five shilling. There is a date stamped over the two with Hawke's Bay 5 March 1878 on it.
