Brief Description
Portrait of Betty Ellen Sweetapple, nee McCartin, wife of Robert John Sweetapple, painted from a photograph after her death. The Sweetapple family owned and ran Gilberd & Company Ltd., a soft drink company in Napier, for four generations. Betty Sweetapple was also closely associated with the Napier branch of the Save the Children Fund, acting as President and area representative in the 1970s.

On the back of the portrait is a newspaper clipping of the artist's house in Thompson Road, Napier.
