This photograph depicts Tin Town, a community shopping centre in Clive Square, Napier, built after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. Signage for several retailers is visible including: F Thorp and Company, Bootmakers; Cox's Limited, Land Agents and Indentors; and Reardon and Wright Limited, Tailors and Outfitters. The last sign appears to read jewellers.
